Now we recognize our fourth senior, as we wrap up the 2017 campaign. She's a 6-0 outside hitter from British Columbia. Ladies and gentlemen, Shimen Fayad.

Fayad spent the past two seasons at Cal State Fullerton after transferring from Wichita State. While with the Titans, she's played in 53 matches and 167 total sets, while producing 444 kills. Fayad has averaged just over 2.6 kills per set, while accumulating 85 total blocks for her career.

During her opening match of 2016, she served up six aces in one match, which is tied for the fourth most in school history.

Shimen is expected to graduate with her degree in medical sociology.

FullertonTitans.com: What's going through your head right now as your career comes to a close.

Fayad: I'm just looking forward to finishing my career at home with my teammates, while I'm also excited to move on to the next chapter in my life.

FullertonTitans.com: What does it mean to you to earn your degree from Cal State Fullerton?

Fayad: To me that's the most rewarding part. Me being the first one to graduate from college in my family, it's a really big deal. For me to go through some pretty tough times over my four-year career and still come out strong at the end is really cool.

FullertonTitans.com: What do you think is the biggest thing you've learned while at Cal State Fullerton?

Fayad: I've learned a lot about myself, but I think the biggest thing I'm going to take away is now being able to take care of myself.

FullertonTitans.com: Is there a moment from your time here that really sticks out for you?

Fayad: Road trips have always been fun and there have been some great stories to come out of them. From getting stuck up and Davis and almost having to sleep 10 girls to a room to the drives up to Santa Barbara by the ocean. That was great especially for girls who are out of state. The trips to Hawai'i have always been fun and just being able to bond as a team was a great experience. This year has been my favorite year of volleyball and they're the best teammates I've had so far.

FullertonTitans.com: What's your favorite spot to hang out around campus?

Fayad: I love the quad. There's always stuff going on there. People are selling food or hanging out. There's always speakers or music playing. There's always something going on.

FullertonTitans.com: Obviously one chapter of your life is ending but another one is just beginning. What do you hope to do with your degree after you graduate?

Fayad: I plan on going back to graduate school and hopefully getting my PhD.
