Tumanuvao Promoted to Assistant Coach

FULLERTON, Calif. ---- Cal State Fullerton women's volleyball coach Naseri Tumanuvao has been promoted from a volunteer assistant coach to assistant coach, head coach Ashley Preston announced on Friday.

Tumanuvao spent the last two seasons with the Titans. Fullerton boasted a six-game improvement from a year ago.

" I am so happy to be elevating Naseri to a full time Assistant for our volleyball program," Preston said. "He's been in the gym with us for two seasons as a volunteer and has a true knack for training. Naseri was a great athlete for Lakewood High, Long Beach City College and Concordia Irvine and the on court knowledge he brings to the student-athletes will be so beneficial. I couldn't ask for a better fit for our staff; he's a great person to be around and I can't wait to see him come into his own as an assistant."

Naseri Tumanuvao joined Ashley Preston's staff as the volunteer assistant in the 2015 season. Tumanuvao played two seasons on the men's volleyball team at Concordia University in Irvine.

Tumanuvao set the all-time career mark with 636 kills and a .283 hitting percentage in his time at Concordia. He is in the top-five of all the career statistical categories and earned numerous individual awards.

In 2013, Tumanuvao was named the NAIA Player of the Year, an NAIA All-American, and was a member of the NAIA All-Tournament Team. He was also the NAIA Tournament Hitting Percentage Leader, and was named First Team All-MAMVIC National Conference.

He appeared in 108 games and led the team with 374 kills. Tumanuvao averaged 3.46 kills/set and hit .316. He finished the season with 130 digs, 67 blocks, 15 assists, and 13 aces.

Tumanuvao has served as the head coach for the T-Street Volleyball Club (18s) in Irvine, Calif. since 2014 and head coach at HighLine Volleyball Club in Long Beach, Calif. (12s, 14s, 16s, 17s) since 2005.

He graduated from Concordia in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Sports Science with an emphasis in coaching.

Titans will open the 2017 campaign with the annual Orange/Blue game on Saturday, August 19th inside Titan Gym.
