FRESNO - Cal State Fullerton suffered its sixth loss by way of sweep this season, falling to Sacramento State 3-0 (20-25, 18-25, 16-25) in the Bulldog Showdown Saturday night at Save Mart Center.

The Titans (0-9) failed to win a set during the weekend against Sacramento State (10-1), getting outhit .246 to .181. Freshman Kyra Hill led the Titans with seven kills and Mackenzie Olsen dished out 24 assists.

Sophomore Katie Roux recorded a season-high 18 digs to lead the team while Paige Reed added 16.

For Sacramento State, Sloan Lovett led the way with 12 kills and Madeline Cannon added 10. Kennedy Kurtz had 28 assists while Lexie Skalbeck had 15 digs.

The first set was the closest of the match between the two teams as it featured 10 ties and five lead changes. The teams went back and forth until the score was tied, 17-17. The Hornets ran off four straight points to take the lead and would outscore the Titans 8-3 to close out the set.

The Titans took a 7-3 lead to start the second set, but the Hornets stormed ahead thanks to a 13-2 scoring run. Fullerton closed the deficit to five points at 20-15 but the Hornets would pull away to take the second set and a commanding 2-0 lead.

In the third, the Hornets scored the first three points of the frame and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire to close out the match.

The Titans will stay on the road next weekend for their final nonconference matches of the year as they head to the San Francisco Challenge to take on North Dakota State, San Francisco and Yale.
