Withers Repeats as Big West Freshman Player of the Week

FULLERTON, Calif. – For the second consecutive week, Cal State Fullerton's Niki Withers was named the Big West Conference Freshman Player of the Week, it was announced Monday.

Withers had another outstanding week for the Titans; recording 57 kills in four matches for Fullerton at the SDSU – USD 2014 Classic. Withers led the team in kills in three of the four matches and averaged 3.80 kills per set. She has recorded double-digit kills in all seven matches to start the season.

In Fullerton's tournament opener against Northwestern, Withers scored her second 20-kill performance of the season in a four-set loss to the Wildcats. She had a .227 hitting percentage in the match and also added four digs and two blocks for the Titans.

On day two, Withers recorded a combined 25 kills for the Titans as they scored a pair of victories over Villanova and Brown. She hammered down 14 kills and hit .286 in the team's win over Brown and added three digs and three blocks.
