Titans Win First Ever Match Against Drake

FULLERTON, Calif. – After a canceled match against Sac State, the Titans were able to dominate Drake 6-1 this Friday.

The match against Sacramento State was canceled earlier this week due to the weather.

Cal State Fullerton (9-3) won the first ever dual in program history against Drake University (6-9).
The Titans are impressive this year at home with a 8-1 record while playing at the Titans Tennis Courts.

DOUBLES
Cal State Fullerton picked the doubles point in dramatic fashion.

At No.1, Sarah Nuno and Karla Portalatin were off to a good start but the duo from Drake took the 6-4 win.

Caisey Lee Emery and Masako Makiba were able to put the Titans back on track and took the 6-2 win at No.2.

It all came down to Court 3 to get the first match point of the day. Eira Tobrand and Luxizi Meng were facing Kelsey Neville and Megan Webb. The Bulldogs had two chances to end the match when leading 5-3 and 5-4. The Titans came back and forced the duo from Drake to a tiebreaker. The Titans won the tiebreaker 7-4 and gave the Titans their first point of the day.

SINGLES
At No.4, Caisey Lee Emery was leading 2-1 in the first set before her opponent was not able to continue due to an injury. The Titans were leading 2-0 early in singles play.

Sarah Nuno played very well today as she took her singles match in two sets 6-1,6-1.

Only one more point was needed for the Titans and Luxizi Meng was the one clinch the win. She dominated Kelsey Neville 6-2,6-1 at No.5.

Karla Portalatin allowed her opponent to score only 3 games as she took the match 6-2,6-1 at No.1.

At No.6, Jadie Acidera gave Fullerton its 6th point of the day and is still undefeated in dual singles.

The last one on the courts was Genevieve Zeidan at No.2. After losing the first set 4-6, Zeidan was able to bounce back and get the second set 6-1. In the super tiebreaker, she had many chances to finish the match but Carmen Palumbo was able to come back and give the Bulldogs their only point of the day.
