FULLERTON, Calif. – The Titans will play Sacramento State this Thursday at 12:00pm P.T. and Drake on Friday at 1:30pm P.T. Both matches will take place at the Titans Tennis Courts.
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
The match against Sacramento State initially scheduled on Wednesday has first been postponed to Thursday at noon. The weather did not improve on Thursday so the match has been cancelled.
Cal State Fullerton (8-3) is coming back home for a pair of non-conference matches this week as they will take on Sacramento State (1-8) and Drake (5-9).
The match against Sacramento State will be the second time in history the two teams meet on the courts while it will be the Titans' first ever match against the Drake Bulldogs.
TITANS
Fullerton now counts eight wins and three losses this season. The Titans were on an impressive winning streak of six matches before losing at CSUN last weekend.
The Titans (3-1) are second in the Big West rankings, right behind the undefeated leader UC Santa Barbara (1-0) who won their only conference match against UC Davis.
The team showed they can perform well on their home courts as they compiled seven wins and only one loss.
Genevieve Zeidan (4-0) and Jadie Acidera (7-0) are still undefeated in dual matches singles this season.
OPPONENTS
Sacramento State started the season with eight losses including a few against Big West Conference rivals CSUN and Cal Poly.
However, the Hornets were able to pick up their first win of the season against Northern Arizona last Monday.
Drake is 5-9 for this 2019 campaign.
The Bulldogs alternated winning and losing streaks since the start of the season.
Drake will be playing at Azusa Pacific on Wednesday before coming to Fullerton on Friday.
The team is on three-match losing streak after going down against Air Force, Colorado State and Minnesota.
HISTORY
The Titans only played the Sacramento State Hornets once before and it was last year.
Cal State Fullerton dominated their opponent 4-1 for their first ever match against Sacramento State in 2018.
The Fullerton Titans and the Drake Bulldogs never played one another before.
It will be the first ever match between the two teams.
