Titans Rolls Past Youngstown State

FULLERTON, Calif. – Fullerton blanked Youngstown State 7-0 this Sunday for their first ever match against each other.

The first ever match between Fullerton and Youngstown State ended up in a sweep for the Titans.
Cal State Fullerton (7-2) just compiled two wins in two days after beating conference rival Long Beach State 4-3.
This win represents the fifth consecutive win for the Titans in the season.
The Titans showed once again their confidence while playing at the Titans Tennis Courts as they count six wins at home for only one loss.

Many Titans are on winning streaks.
Jadie Acidera stays undefeated after her sixth consecutive win in dual matches at No.6.
Sarah Nuno and Eira Tobrand have had impressive wins also. Sarah Nuno has now won her last four singles at No.2 while Eira Tobrand compiled five wins for her last five singles played.
Karla Portalatin compiled two wins this weekend including her key win against Long Beach State at No.1.
Genevieve Zeidan did not play today but is still undefeated in dual matches as owns a 3-0 record at No.3.

DOUBLES
The Titans took the first point of the day as they won the three doubles matches.

On court No.3, Eira Tobrand and Luxizi Meng finished first as they took the 6-2 win over the duo of Claudia Barboza and Elvira Esteo.

They were quickly followed by Masako Makiba and Caisey Lee Emery at No.2 who assured Fullerton to get the doubles point. Makiba/Emery topped their YSU opponent 6-3.

Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno made it a doubles sweep as they were able to pick a 6-4 win at No.1.
The Titans were leading 1-0 after the doubles.

SINGLES
Fullerton quickly obtained their second point as Eira Tobrand saw her opponent getting injured early in the first set. Lucia Zagar from YSU was not able to play with her injury and was forced to retire.

Jadie Acidera was back in the line-up and was able to get her seventh straight win. By dominating Elvira Esteo 6-0,6-2, Acidera stays undefeated in dual matches this season.
Sarah Nuno was the one to give the Titans the clinching point as she was won 6-1,6-2 against Tamara Teufl.

Even though the win was already secured, the Titans kept their focus in the three other games.

Luxizi Meng dominated Cassandra Moraleja 6-4,6-3 and put the Titans up 5-0.

At No.3, Caisey Lee Emery was able to win the first set in the tiebreaker after she was down 3-5. Emery did not let her opponent breathe in the second set and blanked her opponent 6-0.

At No.1, Karla Portalatin was pushed to a comeback as she went down 3-6 in the first set. After her impressive singles win against LBSU at No.1, Portalatin stayed composed and won the two other sets allowing Imaan Hassim to score only one game: 3-6,6-0,6-1.

UP NEXT
The Titans will be back in action next Wednesday, March 13th as they will be playing against Pacific. This will be the last dual of the Titans' seven-match homestand started on February 9th.
