ITA Division I Singles Rankings
FULLERTON, Calif. – The Big West Freshman of the Year for the 2017-2018 season, now Sophomore has just been ranked 115th in the preseason ITA singles rankings, released on Sept. 11.
Genevieve Zeidan has had an impressive season last year as a freshman. She owned the team-best total of victories, 30 wins for only 7 losses. The 2017 Graduate of Zhong Xing High School compiled a fourteen-match win streak from January to March during last season.
She earned the program first-ever Big West Freshman of the Year award after her amazing season and earned a spot on the Big West Conference Singles First Team. She was also named Big West Player of the Week in March.
The Sophomore from Taipei, Taiwan also finished last season ranked 17th in ITA Southwest Region. Last year, she played 3 games against nationally ranked opponents and went 1-2.
Zeidan will compete in the ITA Women's All-American Championships. She will be eager to make it through the pre-qualifying on September 29th at Pepperdine University. If she makes it, she will be able to compete in the qualifying and main draw in October. The ITA All-American Championships is one of the most prestigious tournament at the collegiate level.
That is the first time in program history that someone has been selected to compete in singles play in the All-American tournament. In 2016, Valenzuela and De Leon were selected to participate in Doubles Play.
