NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – To begin doubles play on Saturday, Jadie Acidera and Luxizi Meng were unable to finish in their match against Iowa State's Espindola/Alvarez 6-7. Acidera and Meng compete against Long Beach's Gulin/Casasampere on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
Tiani Jadulang and Taylor Valenzuela found themselves on the upside with a win over Irvine's Hall/Dean tandem 6-3. Jadulang and Valenzuela will play against Oral Robert's Mercado/Gisbert.
Karla Portalatin and Sarah Nuno won via a walkover against CSUN's Elhadj/Dinkelmeyer. Portalatin and Nuno will play Sunday against Van De Vondel/Alcon of Northridge.
Genevieve Zeidan and Caisey Lee Emery won in their match against Iowa's Repina/Timakova 6-3. Zeidan and Emery face off against Iowa's Freeman/Bonnadona to round off doubles play for the Titans.
Luxizi Meng continued to show her strength in singles as she beat CS Los Angeles's Elizaveta Sokolova 7 -6, 6 - 7, 6 - 4. Meng will play against Long Beach's Sadaf Sadeghvaziri, Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
Taylor Valenzuela faced off in a set of singles action on Saturday. Valenzuela lost to Westmount's Taylor Cheung-Damonte 6-1, 6-1 and bounced back for the win over Irvine's Emily Valenciano 4-6,6-3,6-2. Valenzuela will end her singles play Sunday at 11:30 a.m. against ORU's Mariia Kuzmynskia.
Caisey Lee Emery defeated LBSU's Georgia Gulin 4 - 6, 7 - 6(7), 6 -3. Unfortunately, Emery retired her match against Tia Elpusan of Riverside 6-1. Emery will return to the court Sunday to compete against APU's Jackie Resler.
Jadie Acidera took on Irvine's Arianna Tilbury 6 - 3, 6 - 2. She then advanced over Long Beach's Carlota Casasampere 7 - 6, 6 - 4. Acidera will face off against Irvine's Danielle Garrido on Sunday.
Sarah Nuno suffered a loss against LBSU's Lena Pacholski 6 - 7, 6 - 4, 6 - 3. Nuno did turn things around with a win due to injury Iowa's Maty Cancini 5 - 7, 6 - 2. Nuno will play Sunday against ISU's Regina Espindola. Pacholski went on to face freshmen Titan Genevieve Zeidan. Zeidan kept her momentum going strong as she defeated Pacholski 6 - 3, 6 - 2. Karla Portalatin also had a stellar run taking down CSUN's Monika De Vondel 6 - 3, 6 - 4. Portalatin then advanced Long Beach's Natalia Munoz winning the match 0 - 6, 6 - 1, 7 - 5. Portalatin and Zeidan will face off against each other in the finals Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
Tiani Jadulang ended singles play on a high note. Jadulang advanced to the finals after her win against Riverside's Tamilla Vaksman 6 - 4, 6 - 1. In the final's Jadulang won over CSUN's Elisaveta Nosenko 7 - 5, 6 - 2. Jadulang will play Sunday at 11:30 a.m. vs. Ana Stroe of Youngstown.
Advancing to Sunday's final rounds in singles are Tiani Jadulang, Luxizi Meng, Karla Portalatin, and Genvieve Zeidan. In doubles play, Portalatin and Nuno will compete in the finals.
