NORTHRIDGE, CA – Camille DeLeon and Kalika Slevcove won singles matches against previously unbeaten competitors but Cal State Fullerton could not overcome the loss of the doubles point and lost a Big West Conference women's tennis match, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Cal State Northridge.
Fullerton (3-5, 0-3) and the Matadors (4-0, 3-0) split the singles after CSUN swept the doubles matches.
The final point came at No. 3 singles where Kiryang Kim of CSUN beat Fullerton's Megan Sandford in split sets, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1. It was Fullerton's second 4-3 loss in as many matches, the previous one a Big West match vs. UC Davis.
DeLeon won at No. 2 singles over Mickey Hsu and Slevcove won at No. 5 over Jessica Warren. Both Matadors were unbeaten in singles and doubles play prior to Saturday.
Fullerton plays a non-conference match Sunday at home vs. Southern Utah.
