FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's tennis team snapped its five-match losing streak with a 7-0 victory over Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon at the Titan Tennis Courts.
The Titans (2-6) began the match with a sweep in doubles play as the team of Rebekkah Ermac and Megan Sandford defeated Sarah Lundin and Jane Marushko, 8-3, at the No. 3 spot.
The No. 1 tandem of Camille De Leon and Morgan McIntosh scored the second win of the afternoon recording an 8-6 victory over Alex Ivanova and Veronika Rogova.
At the No. 2 position, Kalika Slevcove and Alexis Valenzuela improved to 6-2 on the year with an 8-7 (9-7) win over Nastia Vasileva and Madeline Skaras.
Valenzuela (5-3), playing her second straight match at the top spot, recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ivanova. The rookie from West Covina, Calif., has won four in a row.
At the No. 2 spot, McIntosh (3-5) edged Rogova, 6-4, 6-4. The senior has now won two straight matches.
De Leon, the second freshman in the lineup, defeated Marushko, 6-3, 7-5, at the No. 3 spot. De Leon, from La Mirada, Calif., has won three in a row and boasts a record of 6-2 on the year.
Slevcove needed three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 10-2, but recorded the win over Vasileva at the No. 3 position.
Playing at the No. 5 spot, Ermac defeated Skaras, 6-3, 6-2.
Pepa recorded her third win of the year with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Lundin at the bottom of the lineup.
Fullerton returns to action on Sunday hosting UC Santa Barbara in Big West Conference play at 11 a.m. at the Titan Tennis Courts.
