Box Score

SAN DIEGO, CA - Bailey Micetich threw a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and Patrice Jackson finished with two hits while driving in five on the day, lifting host San Diego State to a 10-0 victory over Cal State Fullerton in five innings on Wednesday evening at the SDSU Softball Stadium.

The loss was the sixth in the last seven games for the Titans, who fell to 17-24 overall on the year heading into this weekend's Big West Conference clash at Cal State Northridge. The Aztecs won their eighth-straight game in improving to 26-19 overall.

Micetich (12-6) faced just two over the minimum for the game, retiring the first nine batters she faced - seven via the strikeout - before surrendering her first hit, an infield single to junior Ashley Carter, to lead-off the fourth inning. Redshirt freshman Eliza Crawford accounted for Fullerton's only other hit on the night, a single up the middle to lead-off the fifth, before striking out two of the final three batters to end the game.

Crawford's hit was the only ball to leave the infield against Micetich, who got a ground ball back to the circle in the first, a ground out to second base in the second, and a pair of ground outs to shortstop in the fourth and fifth around her 11 strikeouts.

Desiree Ybarra (11-13) suffered the loss for the Titans, surrendering nine runs on 11 hits while striking out two in two innings of work. Freshman Vanessa Garcia, making only her fifth appearance of the year, allowed a run on two hits while working around a pair of walks in two innings of relief to close out the game.

San Diego State sent nine batters to the plate as part of a five-run first inning, scoring the first run of the game on an error and adding three more on RBI doubles by Jackson and Ashley Rose for the 4-0 lead. Katie Mathis then added an RBI groundout for the fifth run in the inning and the Aztecs were off and running.

Jackson's three-run home run (her seventh of the season) was the big blow in a four-run second that also featured Hayley Miles' 15th home run of the year and Justeen Maeva added an RBI double in the third to cap the scoring.

Miles, Maeva, Jackson, and Rose all finished with two hits as part of a 13-hit San Diego State attack

Fullerton's series at Cal State Northridge opens with a doubleheader on Saturday (April 28) at 12 p.m. before closing with a single game on Sunday (April 29), also at noon.
