FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton is in their final week before conference play starts up. With five games left before the Big West opener, they will play two of those games as CSU Bakersfield comes to town for a double-header on Tuesday.
This will be just the fourth matchup between the two ball clubs in program history. The other two contests were last year when Fullerton traveled to Bakersfield for a double-header. The Titans came out victorious in both of those contests and hope to remain unbeaten against the Roadrunners tomorrow.
The Titan offense continues to be led by freshman Deshea Hill who's hitting .395 on the year with 2 HR and 14 RBI. Unfortunately, she's battling an injury right now so she is questionable for this week's contests. Speaking of injury, Irieanna Siofele is just about ready to jump back into the lineup after getting hurt in the second game of the season. In the last three games, she has made four plate appearance coming up with a two-RBI knock and a walk. Senior Brooke Clemetson continues to be the definition of a leadoff hitter hitting .341 on the year with an outstanding on-base percentage of .467 which leads the team. Of course, her speed continues to show as she's up to 22 stolen bases on the season which ranks tied for twelfth in the nation.
In the circle, Sophie Frost continues to be stellar as she has taken the team lead with 61 innings and has seen her ERA drop down to a 2.07 mark. In her last seven starts, she has seven complete games and is coming off a scoreless two-inning outing against the defending champion Oklahoma Sooners. Freshman Taylor Dockins didn't see any action this past weekend as she continues her battle with cancer off the field. She is, however, expected to be back in the circle this weekend for the Titans against Bakersfield.
