Club Coach Araujo Added to Titans' Staff

Jorge-Araujo-Mug FULLERTON, Calif. -- Long-time Southern California travel ball coach Jorge Araujo has been hired to serve as an assistant coach on first-year head coach Kelly Ford's staff it was announced on Tuesday.

"Coach Araujo is a great addition to our staff," first-year head coach Kelly Ford. "He is an outstanding skill technician and a true teacher of the game. I am excited to coach with him and learn from his experiences. He is a true professional with incredible passion for coaching. Coach Araujo fits right in with the rest of our staff."

Araujo has served as a head coach for the Lakewood Firecrackers 18U-Gold squad since 2008 following six years as a head coach with the Lakewood Ladies Junior Olympic squad from 2003-08. During his tenure with the Firecrackers, Araujo helped lead the club to the ASA National Championship in 2008, a 2012 Triple Crown USA national title, and three ASA California State Championships.

A teacher in the Los Angeles Unifed School District since 2007, he is also the head varsity coach at Maywood Academy High School in Maywood, Calif., leading the Nighthawks to the City Section finals in 2012.

Collegiately, Araujo played two seasons of baseball at nearby Cal Poly Pomona as an infielder in 1988-89 after transferring from Rio Hondo Junior College. He graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a bachelor's degree in 1992.
