IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's soccer alumni Connie Caliz and Morgan Batcheller were signed by LA Galaxy OC, the organization announced on Monday.
Caliz and Batcheller played alongside one another during Fullerton's phenomenal 2015-16 season. The Titans won their third consecutive Big West Tournament and made their seventh NCAA tournament appearance in that year. Fullerton ultimately fell to USC in penalty kicks, 4-3.
Caliz began the 2017-18 season being named to the 2017 Preseason Big West Team and finished the season with two goals and one assist. During her four years, Caliz played in a total of 70 games overall, white starting in all contests during her freshman, and senior year. She also received accolades such as, Big West All-Freshman and Honorable Mention in 2014, and followed up with back to back Big West Second-Team in 2015 and 2016.
Batcheller earned a number of accolades during her time as a Titan. In her senior year, Batcheller earned, National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division I Women's All-West Region First Team, Big West Defensive Player of the Year. In her four years, Batcheller started in 77 games overall, while starting in all contests during her sophomore, junior and senior campaigns.
"We have signed some excellent players for our inaugural season," said LAGOC Women's Team Head Coach Scott Juniper. "They represent every corner of Orange County, multiple colleges and national teams. Our community should be excited to see this team come together and represent all the hard work they have done for soccer in Orange County over the years."
UWS is a national women's soccer league sanctioned by U.S. Soccer. UWS is a professionally operated league created for teams that meet high minimum standards. The season runs from May until the end of July, culminating in a National Championship match. The UWS player pool is comprised of college players, aspiring & former professionals and international stars.
