Titans Add Six to 2017 Recruiting Class

FULLERTON, Calif. --- Cal State Fullerton women's soccer head coach Demian Brown has signed five future Titans to National Letters of Intent, and welcomed one mid-year addition, it was announced on Wednesday.

"We are extremely happy about the 2017 class," Brown said. "Each of the six players adds something a little special to our already talented group led by our nine motivated seniors."

In 2016, Cal State Fullerton advanced to the Big West Conference Tournament for the fifth consecutive season, earning the No. 3 seed. The Titans fell to No. 2 UC Irvine on penalty kicks.

The Titans wrapped up the regular season with a 7-2-0 record at Titan Stadium, the eighth time in program history the team has recorded seven wins or more at home. The team also drew 6,588 fans to Titan Stadium last year, the fifth most in program history.

Brown completed his 10th season at the helm of the Titans. Cal State Fullerton is 92-85-26 under Brown. In conference play, the Titans are 45-30-6 under Brown with four Big West regular season championships and four Big West Tournament titles.

 

 

Anna Conners, M, Moorpark, Calif./Oaks Christian HS

High School: Enrolled at Cal State Fullerton mid-year after graduating early and is currently on the 2017 spring roster as a freshman...a 2016 graduate of Oaks Christian HS...intends to major in biology...anchored the middle of the field for Real So Cal and has been part of 2011-2014 Cal South ODP as well as 2011, 2012, and 2014 Region IV ODP...was the starting midfielder for Oaks Christian as a freshman making a trip to the state finals. 

Head Coach Demian Brown: "We are very excited about Anna joining our program. She is an excellent midfielder, and will add energy and skill to the middle of the field. The opportunity for her to join us a semester early has definitely benefited her transition, and will lead to a very good fall season.

 

Haley Brown, M, Walnut Creek, Calif./Las Lomas HS

High School: Played four years on the varsity squad for Las Lomas High School… Named a captain during her senior year. Named All-League MVP as a senior... Earned East Bay Times Highligh Reel on Dec. 7 and Feb. 1... Nominated for Next Lady Legend on Score Stream... Earned East Bay Athlete of the Week on Jan. 18... Nominated to play in East Bay All-Star Game...As a junior, scored 21 goals to go along with five assists as she helped lead the Knights to the CIF-North Coast Section championship.

Head Coach Demian Brown: "Haley is a strong, powerful attacking midfielder with the ability to dominate in the air. She will add a dynamic scoring threat to our program."

 

Samantha McKenna, M, Lakeside, Calif./El Capitan HS

High School: Played four years on the varsity for the Vaqueros... Has scored six goals in 13 games so far in her senior season while also dishing out four assists… Scored 14 goals and added 13 assists as a junior and earned the team's MVP award… Was also a distance runner on the track team during her first three years at El Capitan HS.

Head Coach Demian Brown: "Samantha is a versatile and confident midfielder. Sam has the ability to play anywhere in our attack and will add goal scoring opportunities wherever she is used."

     

Callie Petrey-Juarez, M/F, San Diego, Calif./Torrey Pines HS

High School: Played three years on the varsity at Torrey Pines High School… Has recorded six goals and four assists in six games so far during her senior season… As a junior, scored eight goals and dished out 10 assists in 19 games played, placing second on the team with 26 points. Earned First Team All-Palomar League and All CIF Second Team… Named a scholar athlete and helped lead team to a 17-2-5 record and a CIF San Diego Section Girls Championship. Also advanced to CIF Southern California Regional Soccer Championships… As a sophomore, recorded four goals and two assists in 18 games.

Head Coach Demian Brown: "Callie is a crafty and technical midfielder. She will add to our ability to maintain possession in the midfield and her ability to make dangerous passes will help to create goals."

     

Isabel Salvadori, GK, Valencia, Calif./Valencia HS

High School: Played four years on the varsity for the Vikings… Named a team captain as a senior… As a sophomore, earned the team defensive MVP award.

Head Coach Demian Brown: "Isabel is a tall, athletic goalkeeper with an undeniable presence in the box."

   

 

Callie Strouse, M, Placentia, Calif./El Dorado HS

High School: Played four years for the Hawks… As a junior, named First Team All-North Hills League… Earned Second Team All-North Hills League as a sophomore.

Head Coach Demian Brown: "Callie adds a measure of athleticism, strength and tenacity to our midfield core."
