FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton senior Rebecca Wilson netted the game-winning goal for the Titans in the 81st minute combining with Christina Burkenroad on the give-and-go as CSF shut out UNLV 1-0 on Sunday afternoon at Titan Stadium.

The win extends Fullerton's winning streak to six matches as the Titans have opened the year 6-0.

Fullerton outshot the Rebels (3-3-0), 17-10, and hit the crossbar or the post a combined three times before finally breaking through with Wilson's score.

Sophomore Morgan Bertsch, in her first start of the year in goal, made four saves – all in the first half - as Fullerton posted its second shutout of the season.

The game was scoreless at halftime as the Titans held a slight 7-6 edge in shots.

UNLV's Sophie Cortes hit the crossbar in the 55th minute after a UNLV free kick was awarded outside the box on a handball. The ball was knocked back out and Cortes drove in the rebound off the far side of the crossbar.

Minutes later in the 59th minute, Fullerton's Sarah Fajnor turned the corner and had an open look from the center of the field just outside the box. Her shot was denied by the post.

In the 62nd minute after a Fajnor corner, a loose ball resulted in a shot from Titan defender Amanda Larsson that was once again denied by the woodwork from the crossbar.

A third Titan shot hit the crossbar in the 74th minute as Burkenroad's soaring header was denied.

Fullerton's best chance in the first half came in the ninth minute after a giveaway by UNLV goalkeeper Jordan Sallee, but Wilson's shot after the give-and-go with Ivy Diego was wide left.

In the 26th minute, UNLV's Dakota Blazak got behind the Titan defense, but Bertsch was able to come off her line and make the stop.

The Titans travel to the Northwest next week playing at Gonzaga on Friday and at Washington State on Sunday.

Fullerton is currently receiving votes in the NSCAA Top-25 poll.
