FULLERTON, Calif. – Pepperdine's Lynn Williams drove a perfectly-placed shot to the low far post past the outstretched grasp of Titan goalkeeper Jennifer Stuart as the Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss in overtime to the No. 11 Waves on Thursday night at Titan Stadium.

Less then four minutes into overtime, in the 94th minute, Pepperdine's Colby Carson split the Titan defense with a pass to Williams, who calmly collected the ball at the top of the box and fired past Stuart for the golden goal.

For Williams, it was her team-leading seventh goal of the year as Pepperdine improved to 9-1-1 on the season.

For the Titans (2-6-2), Fullerton was playing in its seventh overtime match of the year, and the Titans were shut out for the fourth time this season.

"A lot of credit to Pepperdine tonight and a team well deserving of its ranking," Cal State Fullerton head coach Demian Brown said. "I am extremely proud of our women for how we played and competed tonight. It's unfortunate the way the game ended, but it's a lesson that we have to learn to make ourselves better as we get ready and go into conference play."

Pepperdine outshot Cal State Fullerton 12-6, and the Titans had their best chance in the 86th minute as junior forward Rebecca Wilson was one vs. one with Pepperdine goalkeeper Hannah Seabert after receiving a pass from Connie Caliz, but Seabert made one of her two saves for the game at the near post.

Stuart made four saves in goal for the Titans, including a stop in the 60th minute as Williams was bearing down on goal, one-on-one with Staurt, but the Titan goalkeeper made the stop at the near post.

Pepperdine's Micaela Cervantes also hit the crossbar in the 72nd minute, trying to chip Stuart after a corner.

Fullerton was held without a shot until Wilson took the first attempt for the Titans in the 52nd minute. The first shot of the game was taken in the 25th minute by Williams.

The Titans were also fouled just outside the penalty box on two occasions during the game, but failed to convert the free kicks.

Pepperdine back up goalkeeper Brielle Pierce played the final 6:41 for the Waves after Seabert left the game with an injury.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Sunday at San Diego in the team's final non-conference game of the year.
