FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's golf program and Head Coach Kathryn Hosch have announced the signing of two student-athletes for the 2019-20 season.
Nodoka Honda
Nodoka Honda comes to Fullerton after a successful four-year career at University High School in Irvine, Calif. In 2016, Nodoka and her team won the Pacific Coast League Championship. One year later her team were co-champions along with winning the CIF-SS Regional Team Championship and the State Championship.
Last season Honda once again helped lead her team to a Pacific Coast League Championship while winning the individual league championship. She also helped lead her team to its second straight CIF-SS Regional Championship. While in high school, Honda's average score is an impressive 34.1.
"You can really tell Nodoka's mindset is in the right place and she's not afraid to go for a low score," Hosch said. "Nodoka is an extremely gritty player who holds herself with a lot of confidence and I'm very excited to coach her."
Sofia Legaspi
Sofia Legaspi travels all the way from Quezon City in the Philippians to attend Cal State Fullerton. Sofia comes from a long line of success in her family as her oldest sister played golf at James Madison University and her older sister is currently on the team at UCLA.
"Sofia has a beautiful golf swing, it's very simple and strong," Hosch said. "With both of her sisters playing collegiately she knows what it takes to be great and she already shows that with her hard work ethic."
