2017-18 Women's Golf Season in Review

FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's golf finished off the 2017-18 season with four top-five finishes on the year. The Titans best finish of the season came in the opening tournament of the year where they finished in second place at the Battle at Old Works.

Pauline Welker led the Titans individually in the first tournament of the year as she finished tied for third place at 2-over par 218. The finish was tied for a career-best for Welker and her score of the 69 in round one was a career-best score for a single round.

The Battle at Old Works was the first of two top-10 finished for Welker throughout the year as she finished tied for eighth at the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate with a score of 11-over par 227. Welker looks to have a strong finish to her career at Fullerton as she returns for her senior season in 2018-19.

Sophomore Elsa Lundquist help the top spot for the Titans individually throughout a majority of the season in just her second year at Fullerton. Lundquist started off the season on a high note as she placed tied for sixth at the Battle at Old Works with a score of 3-over par 219. She started off the season on fire as she finished in the top-10 in three of the first four tournaments.

The Sweden Native had four top-10 finished throughout the year and seven top-20 finishes. Lundquist had her best tournament of the season at Fresno State Classic where she had a career-best finish of fifth place while also setting a career-best score of 216.

Those weren't the only career-bests Lundquist set last season as she also shot a career-best 69 in the second round of the Sacramento State Invitational. Lundquist earned Big West All-Conference Honorable Mention after her impressive season.

Welker and Lundquist weren't the only one's setting career-best records last season. Junior Britney Sok had her career-best finish at the Big West Championships where she placed tied for 12th. Sok shot a 225 at the championships which was also a career-best for her while also recording her career-best round of 71 in the third and final round.

Freshman Courtney Sharkey showed a lot of promise in her first year with the Titans, competing in seven out of 10 tournaments on the year. Sharkey's best performance came out the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational where she placed tied for 19th with a score of 11-over par 227.

The Titans now turn their attention to the 2018-19 season where they will have five out of the seven student-athletes returning from last year.
