SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Martina Edberg moved up in the standings on Sunday following the second round of play at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship at Rich Harvest Farms.
The senior is tied for 75th place after firing a second-round score of 5-over-par 77, bringing her two-round total to 160 (+16). She will return to the course for her third round on Monday with her tee time scheduled for 7:40 a.m. CT (5:40 a.m. PT). Golf Channel coverage will begin on Monday with pre-game coverage starting at 3 p.m. CT (1 p.m. PT), followed by live coverage at 4 p.m. CT (2 p.m. PT), and continuing through match play action Tuesday and Wednesday.
Edberg is competing in her first national championship as an individual after competing in three consecutive NCAA Regionals. She advanced out of the Albuquerque Regional this season after tying for second overall and finishing as the top individual participant.
Edberg is one of 12 individuals competing at the championship, and is the first Titan to reach the final since the program was reinstated for the 2009-10 season. In addition to the 12 individuals, there are 24 teams participating in the championship for a total of 132 players.
The second round was originally scheduled to be played Saturday, but the day was cancelled due to inclement weather in the area, changing the format for the championship.
All 24 teams and 12 individuals in the tournament will compete again on Monday. The stroke play portion of the championship will culminate with the individual medalist being determined following the 54 holes. The field will then be cut to the top eight teams which advance to the match play quarterfinals on Tuesday and Wednesday.
