Edberg Concludes Play at NCAA South Bend Regional

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Cal State Fullerton sophomore Martina Edberg wrapped up the final round of the NCAA South Bend Regional hosted by Notre Dame Saturday at The Warren Golf Course.

Edberg carded a 4-over 76 in the final round and concluded the 54 holes with a collective 14-over 230. She was tied for 56th place and moved up in the standings each day she competed. The sophomore finished 18 strokes back of medalist Leona Maguire of Duke, who finished with a 4-under 212, one stroke ahead of teammate Celine Boutier, who led the tournament after the first and second round.

Edberg began the day on the par-5 No. 10 and started off with two pars. She had a bogey on No. 12 and No. 13 but was steady through the last five holes of the front nine. On the back nine, Edberg had two birdies and a bogey in the first five holes but recorded three straight bogeys on No. 6-8 and finished the day at 4-over.

Big West Conference champions UC Davis finished third in the team standings to advance to the NCAA Championships on May 22-27 hosted by the University of South Florida at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. The Aggies posted a collective 884 at the South Bend Regional.

In 2015, Edberg led the Titans with a 74.19 scoring average and played in all nine tournaments. She secured her third career victory after finishing with a 3-over 219 at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational on Feb. 23-24.

Overall, Edberg finished the 2014-15 season with three top-5, five top-10 and seven top-20 finishes. She was selected to the All-Big West Conference First Team for the second consecutive year.
