Farrell Posts Career Best Finish as Titans Conclude Play at The Gold Rush

SEAL BEACH, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton freshman Brittany Farrell posted the first top-10 finish of her career as the Titans wrapped up play at the Gold Rush presented by Southern California Ford Dealers' Tuesday at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, Calif.

Farrell carded a 5-over 77 in the third and final round on Tuesday, finishing in a tie for 10th place and leading the Titans for the competition. Farrell had birdies on the No. 9 and No. 15 holes on Tuesday to give her seven birdies over the 54 holes. She posted a collective score of 225 for the two-day event, which also marked a new career best for the Dove Canyon, Calif. native.

As for the Titans, the team posted a collective 938 in the 54-hole event, the team's highest score at an event this season. The team scored a 26-over 314 on Tuesday. Hosts Long Beach State claimed the tournament title, finishing the event with a collective 883, 19 strokes ahead of runner-up Fresno State.

Competing as an individual, senior Makayla Mier posted the second best score by a Titans golfer at The Gold Rush, finishing the 54 holes with a 17-over 233. She finished in a tie for 34th place after posting a 3-over 75 in round three. Mier recorded three birdies on Tuesday and five over the three round to go along with an eagle on the par-5 No. 16 in round one.

BYU's Lea Garner earned medalist honors as she finished atop the individual leaderboard with an even-par 216, one stroke ahead of Long Beach State's Kassidy Teare.

Junior Nadine Rivera, coming off a career-best round of 73 in round two, posted a 7-over 79 in the final round for the Titans to finish the competition with a collective score of 236, placing her in a tie for 42nd place, the best tournament finish of her career. She posted three birdies in the final round. 

Tisha Alyn Abrea and Dakota Brown each carded a 7-over 79 in round three to finish the event with scores of 240 and 241 respectively, placing 53rd and in a tie for 54th respectively.

Martina Edberg rounded out the Titans team scoring with a collective 244 after carding an 80 on Tuesday. It was the first time in her Titans career that Edberg failed to record a score in the 70s in her Titans career.

Fullerton is back at it Sunday as the Titans head to the Delta Gamma Challenge hosted by Texas State at Landa Park Golf Course in New Braunfels, Texas for a two-day event.
