Karlie Burris will enter her fourth season with the Titans in the fall of 2020.  Burris joined Jeff Harada's first-year coaaching staff in 2017. Prior to Fullerton, she spent five seasons (2012-17) as an assistant coach at Northern Arizona University, where she coached Raina Perez.  At NAU she was responsible for coordinating the team’s recruiting efforts and handling scouting duties. With Fullerton, she is the recruiting coordinator, and is in charge of the early offense.  Additionally, she is the coach for the forwards and centers.

In 2019-20 she was responsible for a group of post players with very diverse skills.  More experienced players like Amiee Book were balanced with newcomers and less experienced players like Madison Freemon, Megan Nieto, Kathryn Neff and Janette Mensah.  The result was a successful 17-14 season, and leading the Big West in defensive rebounds (37.8).  Sophomores Amiee Book and Madison Freemon saw their rebounds per game averages increase during the season.

In 2018-19, Burris' forwards and centers, especially Daeja Smith, were a major part of the team's success in her second season on the Titans coaching staff. Under Burris' direction, Smith once again improved her numbers, averaging 13.0 points per game while shooting 53% from the field. The 6-3 senior center went on to become the first All-Conference First Team selection since 2015. Smith signed a pro contract to play in Greece during the summer of 2019.

In addition to Smith, freshman forward Amiee Book was a key contributor for the 2018-19 Titans.  Averaging 9.7 points per game, the 6-0 New Zealand product led Fullerton with a 43.2% from beyond the 3-point arc,  This shooting percentage was second in the league.  Book was honored as Big West Sixth Player of the Year, and was named to the Big West All-Freshman team.

In 2017-18, her first season with Fullerton, Burris' group of "posts" were led by All-Big West Second Team selection Daeja Smith. Under Burris' coaching, Smith improved her points per game (12.5), field goal percentage (51%), rebounds per game (9.3), and assists per game (1.1) from the 2017 season. Smith became just the fourth Titan to win a Player of the Week award since 2009 and her Second Team selection was the first since the 2013-14 season.

At NAU, Burris managed the defense and specialized in developing the play of the Lumberjacks’ guards and swing players. She designed individual workouts, assisted in practice plans, served as an academic advisor, was the staff’s liaison with sports information and compliance, helped facilitate community outreach and oversaw camps for two years.

Burris' guidance played a key role in helping NAU qualify for three consecutive appearances in the Big Sky Championship Tournament (2015-17). She also tutored two Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year and coached eight players to all-conference awards while the team tallied 22 all-academic honors over five years, which included a two-time Academic All-American.

With Burris’ assistance, Amanda Frost garnered All-Big Sky first team honors and a spot on College Sports Madness’ Mid-Major All-American teams during the 2013-14 season. Frost averaged a Big Sky best 22.5 points per game and set a new school season scoring record with 652 points.

Burris spent one season (2011-12) at Seattle University under former Arizona head coach Joan Bonvicini, serving as a video coordinator and graduate assistant for the Redhawks while earning a master's degree in sport administration and leadership. At Seattle, Burris was responsible for editing film and coordinating exchanges and assisting with team travel and functions. She designed and developed the team's E-newsletter and was instrumental in promoting the team's auction, post-season games, and banquet.

She also served as a tutor and mentor for Seattle University study hall for student-athletes, coordinating with academic advisors to develop academic support plans. She facilitated one-on-one and group study sessions with men's basketball and women's volleyball student-athletes and monitored study hall hours across all sports.

Burris also has previous experience as an assistant coach for girls’ basketball at Rex Putnam High School, where she created practice plans and developed game strategy. She also worked for one year as the director of recruitment for Absolutely Affordable Staffing, serving as the lead recruiter in head hunting business executives in multiple industries.

Burris was a West Coast Conference (WCC) honorable mention selection and four-year letterwinner at the University of Portland. For her work in the classroom, Burris was also recognized on the WCC All-Academic team.

After earning her bachelor's degree in sociology and history from Portland in 2009, Burris completed her master's in sport administration and leadership from Seattle University in spring 2012.
