FULLERTON, Calif. –  The Titans (0-2) fell to UNLV (1-1) on Wednesday evening by a score of 81-67 in the home opener. Junior Amiee Book scored a team-high 16 points while senior Joy Krupa nearly had a triple-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.

The Titans trailed by just one point after the first quarter but the Lady Rebels opened the second quarter on a 14-4 run and held a 44-31 lead at the halftime break. They extended the lead to as high as 25 at the 4:37 mark in the third quarter. But, the Titans continued to fight and got it down to 12 with 2:49 left in the game but UNLV closed it out. 

Turnovers were an issue again as UNLV scored 27 points off of 25 Fullerton turnovers and went 23-35 from the free-throw line while the Titans scored 20 points off of 17 UNLV turnovers and shot 15-24 at the line. UNLV won the rebounding battle 33-29 and had 14 second-chance to points to just seven for the Titans.

Senior forward Joy Krupa hauled in a game-high 12 rebounds to go with 12 points (3-12 FGA, 6-8 FTA), seven assists, two steals, four blocks and just two turnovers in 36 minutes of action. Dating back to last season, Book has scored in double figures in five straight games with her 16 points on the night. She shot 6-13 from the field and 2-5 from beyond the arc. Sophomore forward Megan Nieto was one of just two Titans to have a positive plus/minus, as the Titans out-scored the Lady Rebels by six points in Nieto's 17 minutes of action. She pitched in seven points, four rebounds and one assist. Sophomore guard Anniken Frey tallied 11 points and five assists as well.

Next up, the squad is set to host San Diego on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. PT in Titan Gym. The game will be streamed live on BigWest.TV.
