FULLERTON, Calif. - Daeja Smith had a phenomenal week to kick off the 2018-19 season and earned her second career Big West Player of the Week award. She becomes the first Titan to win multiple player of the week honors since Toni Thomas won five from 2005-08.
Smith averaged 20.0 points and 13.0 rebounds as the Titans won a tight game at Seattle and fell in a hard fought battle to Washington. Over the two games, she shot 60.7% (17-of-28) and grabbed nine of her 26 boards on the offensive end. She also tallied one steal in each contest.
The redshirt senior had 18 points and 12 rebounds to help the Titans defeat the Redhawks, 57-54. She scored six points during a decisive 11-0 run over the final five minutes as a key to victory. The 6-foot-3 center followed that performance by matching her career high with 22 points to go along with 14 rebounds – both game-highs in an 83-74 loss to the Huskies.
Smith became the 11th Titan in school history to climb above both the 800-point career mark and 600-career rebound plateau.
Homecoming – Saturday, December 1, 2018
Cal State Fullerton is set to host its first ever Double Header at the 2018 Homecoming Event on Saturday, December 1st. Women's Basketball takes on CSU Bakersfield at 2:30pm followed by Men's Basketball taking on Cal Lutheran at 6:00pm. In between the two games fans can take part in the Homecoming pre-game festival. Homecoming package includes general admission to the festival and both Women's and Men's Basketball games, a custom student designed T-shirt, meal voucher for In-N-Out Burger, and non-alcoholic beverages.
