FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team will head to California Baptist University for a Tuesday game at 6:00 p.m. before hosting San Diego State in their home opener on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
Fullerton is coming off an opening week where they went 1-1 in the Pacific Northwest.
Fullerton played Seattle a bit short-handed missing both Raina Perez and Amiee Book, but grinded out the 57-54 win thanks to an 11-0 run in the final five minutes of play. Daeja Smith had 18 points and 12 rebounds for her first double-double of the year. Jade Vega filled out the stat sheet with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, and 5 steals.
The Titans got Perez and Book back for the Washington game and surprised everyone battling the entire night. After playing three quarters of really good basketball, they struggled in the fourth ultimately falling 83-74 to the Huskies. Daeja Smith put up another double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds while Raina Perez had 20 points and 5 assists to lead the scoring.
Looking forward to this week, CSF and CBU will face each other for the first time in program history. The Lancers are coming off an 85-83 victory over rival Long Beach State last week. They have three scorers averaging in double-figures led by Britney Thomas' 15.5 points per game to go along with 14 rebounds per game.
In the 2018-19 Fullerton home opener, they will look for revenge from last year against San Diego State. Last season, the Aztecs defeated the Titans 59-58 as CSF missed a buzzer beater that would have given them the victory. In the all-time series, Fullerton leads it 31-22 but have lost the last nine matchups against SDSU.

Cal State Fullerton is set to host its first ever Double Header at the 2018 Homecoming Event on Saturday, December 1st. Women's Basketball takes on CSU Bakersfield at 2:30pm followed by Men's Basketball taking on Cal Lutheran at 6:00pm. In between the two games fans can take part in the Homecoming pre-game festival. Homecoming package includes general admission to the festival and both Women's and Men's Basketball games, a custom student designed T-shirt, meal voucher for In-N-Out Burger, and non-alcoholic beverages.
