Fullerton Hits the Road Looking for Revenge Against UCSB Before Heading to Rivals LBSU

FULLERTON, Calif. – Following a tough loss to UCSB, the Titans now head to Santa Barbara looking for revenge against the Gauchos Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Thunderdome before heading to rivals Long Beach State Saturday at 4 p.m. PT.

QUICK HITS
• Cal State Fullerton is coming off of a pair of losses last week against Hawaii and UC Santa Barbara who they will face in back-to-back games.
• The Titans are currently on a seven-game losing streak with their last win coming against Long Beach on Jan. 11.
• Fullerton has already topped their conference win totals from the last two seasons with four Big West games remaining.
• The Titans have missed out on the Big West Conference Tournament the last two seasons and currently sit in 8th place which would have them making the tournament.

• 9-13 (6-4 BWC) this season
• The Gauchos are 3-2 in their last five games
• Beat CSF in their last game, Sat. Feb. 10
• Averaging 64.7 points per game, ranking fifth in the Big West while allowing 68.4 ppg to rank fourth in the conference.
• Shooting 40.0% from the field and 34.5% from beyond the arc.
• Drew Edelman leads the Gauchos in scoring with 15.3 ppg while also leading her team in rebounds with 9.3 and field goal percentage at 55.9. Edelman ranks second in the Big West in rebounding and third in field goal percentage.

Long Beach State Notes
• 3-21 (1-9 BWC) this season
• The 49ers picked up their only win in Big West play last week against CSUN
• Were on a 13-game losing streak before win over CSUN. Suffered a loss to Cal Poly in last game.
• Averaging 61.6 points per game, ranking eighth in the Big West while allowing 72.7 ppg to also rank eighth in the conference.
• Shanaijah Davison leads Long Beach in scoring with 12.6.

 

HANNAH THOMPSON... FOR THREE
Junior Hannah Thompson tops the conference in three-pointers with 62 made three's and averaging 2.7 thee's per game. She currently ranks tied for seventh in three-point percentage, shooting 40.3% from beyond the arc. Her 62 three's ranks 7th for most in a single season in program history. She needs just two three's to move into 6th place.

THE PAST IS THE PAST
Cal State Fullerton won their second conference game against Long Beach. That gave them two BWC wins this year, besting their BWC win totals for the past two seasons.

DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE
The Titans currently rank third in the Big West in fewest points allowed only allowing opponents 64.7 points per game. They have only given up 75+ points five times in thirteen games and have held their opponents to 60 points or less eight different times.

BOX 'EM OUT
Fullerton currently ranks first in the Big West in rebounds allowed as opponents average just 35.2 rebounds per game. Overall, they are just one of three teams with a positive rebounding margin with +0.3.

THE HARADA ERA
Coach Jeff Harada and the squad have already accumulated seven wins with six games remaining. It's the most wins in a season since 2014-15 when the Titans won 13 games.

THE ROAD TO 1,000
Junior Jade Vega has totaled 235 points so far this season. She currently sits at 731 points for her career.

PICKPOCKETING
Freshman Carolyn Gill has also earned a spot in Harada's starting lineup and that is largely thanks to her defense. She currently ranks first on the team in steals and second on the team in blocks. Her 1.5 steals per game ranks tenth in the Big West.

DAEJA-VU
Just as she did last season, junior Daeja Smith has been a dominant force for the Titans this this season. Her 12.0 ppg is second on the team, 9.0 rpg leads the team, 49.3% field goal percentage leads the team, 1.4 blocks per game is first, and 30.3 minutes per game is third most. She also has nine double-doubles for the season, second most in the Big West.

THE 700-500 CLUB
Smith pulled down five rebounds in the game against CSUN giving her 500 rebounds for her career. Smith scored 11 points against UC Irvine to give over 700 career points to go along with the 500 boards making her just the 17th player in program history to reach both numbers.
