FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team earned its first home win of the season on Friday night at Titan Gym, beating North Dakota State, 86-79, behind 31 points from Chante Miles and 19 points from fellow senior Kathleen Iwuoha.

On the night the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program honored Miles for becoming the 23rd member of the Titan 1,000-point club, the senior guard from Compton, Calif. dominated once again, leading the Titans to their most efficient-shooting game all season.  As a team Fullerton shot a season-high 51.7 percent (32-of-56) from the field as well as a blistering 60 percent (9-of-15) from behind the three-point line.  Miles tacked on a season-high eight assists on the night and Iwuoha pulled down seven rebounds to help the Titans with the rebounding battle, 37-31.

"It really started and ended with Chante and Kat tonight," head coach Daron Park said.  "They played incredibly hard, ran the offense, and it quite honestly felt like they couldn't be guarded."

The majority of the damage done by the Titans on Friday night was a product of high intensity passing and domination down low, out scoring NDSU 34-18 on points in the paint.  The high-percentage shots could be attributed to a season-high 21 assists on Fullerton's 32 made field goals.

The score remained close throughout the opening 20 minutes, but the Titans went on a crucial 7-2 run with 8:48 left that gave them some much needed breathing room on the scoreboard.  CSF would eventually close out the first half with the lead, 45-35.  Miles and NDSU guard Brooke LeMar led all scorers at the break with 13 points each.  Fullerton shot 58.1 percent (18-of-31) in the half while the Bison were close behind at 42.4 percent (14-of-33).

The second half was a shooting gallery as North Dakota State out scored the Titans by three points in the period, 44-41, but it was not enough to overcome the ten-point deficit that Fullerton had built in the first half. The Bison gave the Titan fans a reason to hold their breath in the final minutes, coming within five points of tying the game, 79-74, with 2:46 left to play.   North Dakota State could not find the stop they needed on defense, however, as the Titans hot shooting carried over to their late free-throws until the final horn sounded.

The Titans (4-6) finished with three scorers in double figures as Amanda Tivenius joined Miles and Iwuoha by scoring 12 points (4-of-5) off the bench.  The Bison (4-7) also finished with three scorers double figures as Brooke LeMar led the way with 28 points (10-of-20), Holly Johnson contributed 16 points (7-of-13) and Kahla Becken poured in 11 (3-of-8).

"I am just really proud tonight," Park said.  "We talked all week about getting our first home win and we were able to come out and battle against a very good North Dakota State team to get it. I thought we did a lot of really good things tonight, but we also know we have to do a lot of things better if we're going to beat a really good Albany team on Sunday."

The Titans are back in action at Titan Gym on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. to take on Albany.
