FULLERTON, Calif. – Former Shepherd Ram assistant coach Nikki Turner has been brought in as the new Director of Basketball Operations for the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program, head coach Daron Park announced Wednesday afternoon.
"We are thrilled to welcome Nikki to the Titan family," said Park. Her experiences in athletic administration and coaching will serve her well in this position. She's amazingly energetic and enthusiastic and will fit in perfectly here at Cal State Fullerton."
Prior to her time at Shepherd, she served as an academic advisor at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Turner has also spent time as an assistant at multiple schools including Hawaii Pacific, California State University of East Bay, San Jose State and Chico State.
From 2004-2009, Turner served as the head coach at UC Santa Cruz, where she also worked as an assistant athletic director and sports information director.
Before handling multiple roles at UC Santa Cruz, Turner served as an intern with Stanford women's basketball team before moving on to the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA as the team's video coordinator.
Turner is a former collegiate player, spending two seasons at Chico State from 1997-99. She graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Sociology from the school before completing her Master's degree in Sports Administration. While working on her Master's degree, she also spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the Chico State women's basketball team.
As a player, she was a team captain and a two-time All-Conference selection. Prior to attending Chico State, Turner played two seasons at the College of the Canyons in Valencia, Calif.
