IN THE STANDINGS
Fullerton remains in control of first place in the Big West South Division with a 2-2 conference record after a weekend in which they went 1-1 with a win over Sacramento State and a loss to UC Davis. The Titans have six points in conference play, one point ahead of UC Irvine and two points ahead of CSUN.

Fullerton will host the Matadors in a rematch of the 2016 Big West Conference Championship game. The Titans fell in double-overtime to CSUN on a last minute goal, ending their hopes a back-to-back-to-back conference championships.
Wednesday's match will be the 43rd matchup in the history of the two programs. Fullerton trails in the series with an overall record of 16-21-5 against the Matadors. The Titans tied CSUN in the two regular season meetings last season, their last win over the Matadors came in 2015. The Titans are 9-11-3 at Titan Stadium against CSUN.
The Matadors head into Wednesday's fixture with a 6-6-1 record and a 1-2-1 record in Big West Conference play. Other than conference opponents, Fullerton and CSUN have matched up with two of the same opponents in San Diego and Utah Valley. Fullerton and San Diego ended in a 1-1 draw while CSUN fell to the Toreros 2-0. The Titans suffered a 2-0 loss to Utah Valley early in the season while the Matadors came out of the game with 2-1 win.
Emmanuel Usen Jr. leads the Matadors with six goals on the season, which is tied second in the Big West Conference with Fullerton's Ross McPhie. Usen Jr. two assists on the season, giving up 14 points which is tied for fourth in the conference. Daniel Trejo is second on the team with four goals and one assist. Six different Matadors have scored a goal this season.
UC Riverside
7 p.m. | Saturday, Oct. 14 | UCR Soccer Stadium
UC Riverside and Fullerton will meet for the 37th time in the history of the two programs. The Titans have the advantage in the all-time matchup with a 19-10-7 record against the Highlanders and are 8-6-3 when playing at UCR Soccer Stadium.
The Highlanders have struggled so far this season, winning just won game thus for with a 1-10 overall record. UC Riverside's first win of the season came against UC Davis last Saturday in a 2-0 victory. The Highlanders are in last place in the Big West South Division with a 1-3 record. Fullerton and UCR have only faced one similar opponent out of conference, both facing Vermont earlier in the season. The Titans had a 2-1 victory over the Catamounts while UC Riverside suffered a 2-0 loss.
Riverside has had seven players score at least one goal this season with Antonio Lokossou leading the team with three goals. The Highlanders are tied for last in the conference as a team with Cal Poly for the least goals scored this season at 12. They are also in last place with the fewest assists at five, UC Davis in second to last place with 10. Along with being at the bottom of the conference in goals scored, the Highlanders also rank last in goals allowed (24) and goals allowed average (2.16).
McPhie Continues to Roll
Junior Ross McPhie continues to dominate on the offensive end for Fullerton. In the two games last week, McPhie recorded four points on one goal and two assists including having three points in the Titans 3-1 victory over Sacramento State Saturday night with a goal and an assist. McPhie is tied for second in the Big West Conference with 15 points and is tied for second in goals with six. The midfielder leads the team along with Bass Sarr for most shots this season with 23, 11 of them being on goal, giving him a .478 shots on goal percentage. McPhie also ranks second in the conference with three game-winning goals so far this season.
Goni Gets Going
Samuel Goni scored his third goal of the season in the Titans 3-1 victory Saturday, ranking him second on the team behind only McPhie. The Spanish native had four shots including three on goal against the Hornets, with two of his shots being just off the mark of being another goal for the redshirt junior, leading him to say after the match that he should have had at least two goals in the game. Goni has 18 shots on the season and of those shots 10 of them have been on goal, giving him a .556 shots on goal percentage.
