FULLERTON, Calif. - The Portland Timbers announced on Monday morning the signing of Cal State Fullerton men's soccer player Alex Heilmann with the U23 team, who will join the squad during the 2017 season.

Heilmann finished off his Titan career this season by leading the Big West in goals scored and points with 12 and 26 respectively. The La Habra, Calif., native is the first Fullerton player to earn a spot on the NSCAA All-Far West Team since 2014.

This year, Heilmann put 20-of-35 shots on goal to finish the season with a shot on goal percentage of 57.1 percent, which was second-highest among top-10 goal scorers in the Big West. The Titan forward's strong season offensively earned him a spot in the program record book, as he sits tied for eighth in most goals scored in a single season. Heilmann's senior year accolades include All-Big West First Team honors, Big West Offensive Athlete of the Week (twice) and College Soccer News National Player of the Week (10/24).
