FULLERTON, Calif. – The lone goal from freshman Brandon West in the 63rd minute pushed the Titans past UT Rio Grande Valley at Titan Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

In a sweltering 100 degree weather, Fullerton (4-3-0) attacked hard and early logging 11 shots in the first half, forcing 3 saves from Vaqueros goalkeeper Leo Castillo.  The Titans also had five corner kicks in the first half en route to their third shutout of the season.

Ronaldo Pineda led the pack with three shots on the day while five different Titans had two shots a piece, totaling for a season-high 16 shots on the day.

The Titans seemed to be struggling finding the goal until the second half when forward Brandon West broke away and managed trip up the Vaquero defense to push one past Castillo into the bottom left part of the net.

Stellar defense by the Titans held UT Rio Grande Valley to only four shots throughout the whole match en route to Titan goalkeeper David Rodriguez Elias' third shutout of the year.

Fullerton now heads to Utah Valley to take on the Wolverines on Thursday night before heading back to Titan Stadium to host Grand Canyon on Sunday afternoon.

NOTES:  UT Rio Grande Valley's four shots is the fewest allowed so far this season… Fullerton's six shots on goal is the second most this season… Zach Bryan and Nigel Patterson recorded their first starts of the season… Today's game was the first of the season that Rodriguez Elias did not record a save… West's goal today was the second game-winning goal of his career…
