Fenelus and Ramos named Big West Second Team All-Conference

Big West Release

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team collected two spots on the Big West All-Conference second team as the results were released Friday morning.

Marc Fenelus was voted in at the forward position while Ian Ramos got a second-team nod as as a midfielder.

The forward from Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, Fenelus finished the regular season with the team lead in goals with six, two assists, and 14 points.  He had a knack of scoring just when the Titans needed it most, as three of his six goals this season were of the game-winning variety.  Fenelus has been a staple on the field this year playing in all 20 games after playing in 17 of 18 total games in the 2013-14 season.

Ramos, who was voted in 2013-14 as an all-conference honorable mention, played in all 20 games this year in the Fullerton midfield, scoring two goals and gathering three assists.  He earned preseason all-conference honors this season, the second in his Titan career.

Four other Titans that spurred the Titan run into the Big West Conference Tournament this season were given all-conference honorable mentions: senior Garrett Losee, junior Colin Okirie, senior Gabriel Quintero and junior goalkeeper Jeff Salt.

Losee scored four goals, had two assists and totaled 10 points as a senior playing his last season in a Titan uniform.  Okirie and Quintero each played major parts in the backline of the Titan defense that lead the Big West in shutouts, Okirie playing in 17 of 20 games and Quintero playing in all 20.  Salt asserted himself midway through the season as the number one goalkeeper for the Titans and finished with his goals against average under a goal per game (.96).

UC Santa Barbara swept the Player of the Year awards this season in the Big West as Nick DePuy brings home the award for Big West Offensive Player of the Year, Kevin Garcia-Lopez was voted the Big West Defensive Player of the Year and Axel Mendez was given Big West Freshman of the Year.  A surprise run into the Big West Conference Tournament earned Sacramento State head coach Michael Linenberger Coach of the Year while Wade Hamilton of Cal Poly won Goalkeeper of the Year.

The Titans open Big West Conference Tournament play at 1:00 p.m. against UC Davis at Aggie Soccer Field.
