STOCKTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team defeated Pacific 4-0 Monday afternoon at Knoles Field behind goals from Marc Fenelus, Garrett Losee, Spencer Johnson, and Robert Coronado.

The game featured a 15-minute battle for possession before Fullerton started the scoring in the 16th minute.  Fenelus put the Titans on the scoreboard first, 1-0, after a clever deflection off a cross from senior Ritchie Gonzalez snuck past Tigers goalkeeper Josh Adachi.

Fullerton did not waste any time extending the lead to 2-0, a free kick in the 17th minute was taken from the top of the Pacific box by Losee and bent just inside the near post for the goal.  It was his fourth goal of the year, tying him with Fenelus for the team lead.

The Tigers got off to a slow start Monday afternoon, evidenced by seven offside infractions and not being able to fire a shot on Titan goalkeeper Jeff Salt until the 41st minute.

The first-half came to an end with a 2-0 Titan lead.

Cal State Fullerton did not take its foot off the pedal in the second half, and in the 70th minute made the score 3-0.  A free kick taken by Julian Okai, 30 yards from goal, was bent into the far side of the box to Nigel Patterson; he opted to make the unselfish play and slid the ball across goal to an open Johnson for his first goal of the season.

Coronado gave the Titans a 4-0 lead, with their second 90th minute goal in as many games, by poking a loose ball in the box past Adachi off a long throw in by freshman Myles Lark.

Titan defense was the key to the victory Monday, as West Coast Conference goal leader Tristan Blackmon was held to one shot for the Tigers.  The Titans outshot their 12th consecutive opponent, amassing 30 shots to the Tigers' four.

Cal State Fullerton is back to conference action on Saturday against 11th ranked UC Irvine, 7:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium.

Notes:  The 30 shots taken this afternoon by the Titans were the most in a single game all season…The 4-0 win was the largest margin of victory for Fullerton since a win, by the same score, against Portland on Aug. 26, 2012 …With the win against Pacific, the Titans have now won 7-of-9 games after starting the season 0-3-2…In their first meeting since 1985, the Titans extended their all-time record against the Tigers to 6-0-0.
