SAN DIEGO – Titan goalkeeper Jeff Salt made a game-high eight saves – including a penalty kick stop in the 47th minute – as Cal State Fullerton and San Diego played to a 0-0 tie at Torero Stadium on Monday night.

Fullerton (0-1-1) also had to play the final 40 minutes of the match a man down after senior midfielder Mark Vasquez received a red card in the 70th minute of the match.

San Diego (1-0-1) outshot Fullerton 14-8 as Torero goalkeeper Thomas Olsen was forced to make only two saves, including a stop on Ian Ramos' attempt in the 43rd minute as a ball was played through the box and he had a look at the far post.

In the 47th minute, San Diego's Connor Brandt stepped to the spot to attempt a penalty kick. The midfielder shot right, and Salt guessed correctly as his 6-foot-6 frame was able to make the diving save.

The game was littered with fouls as Cal State Fullerton committed 19 fouls and San Diego was whistled for 16. In addition, Gabriel Quintero, Fermin Villalba, and Colin Okirie were issued yellow cards for the Titans while the Toreros received six yellow cards.

After playing two games on the road, Cal State Fullerton will return to Titan Stadium at 7 p.m., Friday to host San Francisco in the team's home opener as Titan All-American Eddie Soto returns as the Dons' head coach.

Notes: USD leads the all-time series against Fullerton 12-10-4.
