CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. – After heading into round three at the Big West Championships tied for first place, the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team fell back to fifth place on Tuesday a 9-over par 297. The Titans finished with a total score of 2-over par 866.
UC Irvine took first place with a score of 12-under par 852 while UC Davis finished right behind them in second place at 11-under par. Brandon Bauman of UC Santa Barbara and Ryan Han of UCI tied for first place individually at 8-under par 208.
The Titans did have a bright spot individually in the third round as Martin Manalo earned a career-best tied for third place finish, just behind the leaders at 5-under par 211. Manalo shot a even par 72 in round three after shooting a 69 in round one and a 70 in round two. Manalo's score of 69 in round one is also a new career-best.
Matt Wilson placed tied for 15th place with a score of 1-over par 217 (70-74-73). Derek Castillo finished tied for 19th place 2-over par 218 (72-70-76).
Mark Cobey ended the tournament tied for 26th place at 6-over par 222 (71-73-78). Dalton Daniel finished tied for 32nd place with a score of 8-over par 224 (72-76-76).
