Men's Golf in 22nd Place After Two Rounds

PALM DESERT, Calif. – After a tied for 15th place finish after round one, Cal State Fullerton men's golf fell back to 22nd in round two at the Classic Club in Palm Desert Saturday with a 31-over par 607.

The Titans are battling tough in a tournament full of top-ranked competitors such as No. 15 Cal who is dominating the field heading into the third and final round with a 27-under par 549. The Golden Bears are 16 strokes ahead of No. 14 ranked Texas Tech in second place.

At the conclusion of two rounds Martin Manalo leads the Titans individually with a score of 148 at 4-over par. Manalo shot a 2-over par 74 in both rounds of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate.

Matt Wilson is tied for 87th with a 7-over par 151 after two days of the tournament. First year transfer Derek Castillo is tied in 100th place with a score of 153 at 9-over par.

Fullerton looks to improve on its position in the third and final round Sunday with tee-times set for 7 a.m. PT.
