Cobey Finishes Strong to Earn 10th Place Tie, Titans place 12th

Round Two Results | Round Three Results

SOMIS, Calif. – After a difficult first day dealing with extreme heat and strong winds, the Titans improved their score in round three to finish 12th at 93-over par 957 Tuesday afternoon at the Waves Challenge.

Fullerton moved up two spots from round one to round three while improving on its score in each and every round. The Titans shot a 331 in round one, 324 in round two and a 302 to finish off the tournament strong. Getting to know the difficult course of the Saticoy Country Club certainly helped the Titans in the third and final round.

Pepperdine, the host university, finished first in the tournament with a score of 13-over par 877.

Fullerton's Mark Cobey finished first on the team with a score 10-over par 226 to earn a tie for 10th place overall. Cobey saved his best performance for the last round, finishing the competition with a 1-under par 71. The senior moved up four positions throughout the three rounds of the tournament after finishing the first round tied for 14th.

Derek Castillo finished second on the Titans at 24-over par 240 to rank him tied for 43rd. Castillo shot a 82, 79 and 79 in his three rounds, respectively.

Junior Matt Wilson concluded the tournament tied for 57th with a score of 35-over par 251. Wilson also shot his best score of the tournament in round three with a 9-over par 81.

Dalton Daniel tied for 67th place. Much like the rest of the squad, Daniel performed best in round three as he shot a 1-over par 73. His score of 73 was 10 shots better than his round two score and 22 shots better than his round one score. Davis Holeman finished in 72nd place with a score of 38-over par 254.

The Titans return to the greens Feb. 17-19 when they head to Palm Desert for the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Wyoming.
