FULLERTON, Calif.--- Sophomores Jack Ireland and Matt Wilson were both named All-Big West Honorable Mentions after putting together fantastic 2016-16 campaigns, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
Ireland finished with the best overall scoring average of any Titan, posting an average score of 72.375, while recording a low round score of 67 for the year. The Mission Viejo, Calif. native finished the season strong, earned top four finishes in each of his final two tournaments of the year.
He battled to take fourth place at the Sacramento State Invitational (March 6-7th), recording an overall score of 216 and shooting an even par for the tournament. A week later, he secured his best finish of the season, notching a score of 204, shooting a season-best -12 for the event to claim second place.
Unfortunately, he wasn't able to compete at Big West Championships due to injury.
Wilson boasted an average score of 73.88 throughout the year while shooting a round low of 68. Like Ireland, Wilson saved his best for last, earning his best finish of the season at the Big West Championships.
The Cypress, Calif. native shot a 215 for the event, finishing -1 for the tournament and placing eighth. He was Fullerton's highest placing athlete at the championships.
