FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team is in action again this week as the Titans quickly return to the links on Saturday competing at the Southern Dunes Collegiate Invitational in Maricopa, Ariz.

THE FIELD: Competing along the Titans will be host Wyoming, Arizona, Arizona State, Idaho, UC Riverside, Grand Canyon, San Francisco, Fort Lewis College and Pima Community College. Mark Jensma, Matt Murphy, Jack Ireland, Matt Wilson and Marcus Mercardo-Kiel are expected to compete for the Titans.

LAST TIME AT SOUTHERN DUNES COLLEGIATE INVITATIONAL: The 2015-16 season will mark the first time that the Titans are competing at the Southern Dunes Collegiate Invitational since the program was reinstated for the 2009-10 season.

LAST TIME OUT ON THE LINKS: The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team recorded a third-place finish, the club's best finish since winning the 2014 Big West Championship, at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate at Washington State on Tuesday. The Titans overall team score of 843 (-9) ranks third all-time (since reinstatement) for lowest 54-hole score for the program. In addition, redshirt senior Mark Jensma set a new career mark for best round of golf shooting a 68 (-3) in the second round, while also establishing a new  career-best three-round score (209, -4), beating his previous career mark of 221. The Aliso Viejo, Calif., native tied for ninth at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate, securing his best finish ever as a Titan. In addition, junior Matt Murphy's 30th place finish, total score of 216 and second-round score of 3-under-par 68 on Monday set career highs for the Trabuco Canyon, Calif., native. Freshmen Jack Ireland and Matt Wilson made their Titan debuts, respectively.

2015-16 TAP-INS:

• Fullerton's final score of 843 from the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate on Tuesday ranks third all-time at Cal State Fullerton for the program's 54-hole team score.

• Fullerton's third-place finish at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in Pullman, Wash., was the best for the program since winning the Big West Championship on April 29, 2014.

• Redshirt senior Mark Jensma was the top Titan finisher, as his total score of 209 (-4) tied for ninth. For Jensma, the ninth place finish was the best in his Titan career and the second time he has finished in the top-10. In addition, his second round score of 68 and his total score 209 set career bests.

• For junior Matt Murphy, his 30th place finish, total score of 216 and second-round score of 3-under-par 68 on Monday set career highs for the Trabuco Canyon, Calif., native.

• Freshman Matt Wilson and Jack Oreland made their respective Titan debuts.

SEASON SCHEDULE
Cal State Fullerton's 2015-16 campaign features 10 tournaments before the Big West Championship and NCAA Regionals. The Folino Invitational will again highlight the Titans' season as the sixth-annual tournament has become one of the premier collegiate golf destinations and will be hosted at Industry Hills Golf Club in City of Industry, Calif., on Feb. 15-16. Fullerton will also hit the links outside the state of California, visiting Washington and Arizona twice.

The Titans carded six top-10 finishes last season with an underclassmen-heavy roster. Fullerton returns 10 letterwinners and welcomes four freshmen.
