PULLMAN, Wash. - The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team finished its first day of competition in third place at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate played at Palouse Ridge Golf Course on the campus of Washington State on Monday.

The Titans shot 560 to finish 8-under-par after shooting a first round score of 283 (-1) and a second round mark of 277 (-7). Heading into the final 18 holes, Fullerton is currently 21 strokes behind leader and host Washington State (-29, 539).

After two rounds, Fullerton also trails Seattle (-9, 559), while Santa Clara (-4, 564) and Sacramento State (-2, 566) round out the top five.

An intriguing pair of experience – redshirt senior Mark Jensma – and youth – freshman Jack Ireland – led the Titans on Monday as both players are tied for 17th with identical two round scores of 140 (-2). Jensma shot a first round score of 72 (+1) followed by a second round score of 68 (-3), while Ireland's first round of collegiate golf resulted in a 2-under-par score of 69 and an even par score of 71 in the second round.

Sophomore Mark Cobey is tied for 31st after two rounds with a score of 143 (+1). He tallied a mark of 69 (-2) in the first round followed by a second round score of 74 (+3).

Freshman Matt Wilson is also tied for 31st with a score of 143 (+1). He recorded a mark of 73 (+2) in his first collegiate round of golf and followed with a score of 70 (-1) in his second round.

Matt Murphy completed the five-man rotation for Fullerton in team competition as the junior tallied a 77 (+6) in the opening round, followed by a 3-under-par 68 in the second to conclude the afternoon tied for 38th place.

The final 18 holes of the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate will wrap up tomorrow at Palouse Ridge Golf Course, a par 71, at 8:30 a.m. For live scoring, please click here.
