The Titans recorded an opening-round mark of 297 (+9), and trail Big West foe UC Davis (-7, 281) Marquette (-7, 281), Nevada (E, 288), Utah Valley (E, 288), Sacramento State (+7, 295) and Fresno State (+7, 295) after 18 holes on Friday.

Junior Marcus Mercado-Kiel, who shot an even-par 72 on the afternoon, led Fullerton with his steady play throughout the first round.  He finished with two birdies and two bogeys while shooting even par or better in his final seven holes.

UC Davis' Luke Vivolo paced the field after 18 holes on Friday, shooting a 5-under 67 to open his weekend.  Fellow Aggie's Will Brink (-2, 70), Ryan Han (-1, 71) and Patrick Soli (-1, 71) contributed to UC Davis' first-round team lead, each finishing in the top 10 on the individual leaderboard heading into Saturday's second round. 

Titan Nico Mendoza, who finished his round with a 3-over 75, was one of five student-athletes to produce an eagle on Friday.  The junior sank his put to score a three on the par-5 second hole en route to an even-par 36 on the front nine.

Senior Ryan Tetrault contributed to the Titan cause with a 2-over 74 through the his first 18, while Matt Murphy and Kyle De Silva both finished with scores of 4-over 76 in their opening rounds.

The El Macero Classic will continue Saturday at 10:30 a.m. off the first hole and will come to a close on Sunday starting at 7:00 a.m. off the first and 10^th holes.
