Microsemi Corporation Named as Sponsor of Folino Invitational

2015 Folino Invitational Information

FULLERTON, Calif. - For the second-consecutive year, Microsemi will serve as the presenting sponsor of Cal State Fullerton's annual Folino Invitational to be held on Feb. 16-17 at the Industry Hills Golf Club in Industry Hills, Calif. Ahead of the collegiate event will be a fundraising tournament on Feb. 2 at the Black Gold Golf Club in Yorba Linda, Calif.

The Microsemi Corporation offers a comprehensive portfolio of semiconductor and system solutions for communications, defense & security, aerospace and industrial markets. Products include high-performance, radiation-hardened and highly reliable analog mixed-signal integrated circuits.

The tournament is named after philanthropist Paul Folino, the primary benefactor behind the return of intercollegiate golf to Cal State Fullerton in 2009-10 after a hiatus of more than two decades.

Ten men's teams will travel to Industry Hills for the fifth-annual event, which will consist of 54 holes over two days. Along with Microsemi Corporation, other corporate sponsors CoreLogic, Emulex, team player's sponsor Jeff Van Hart, and invited guests will highlight a fund-raising amateur tournament that will take place on Feb. 2 at the Black Gold Golf Club. With a shotgun tee-off beginning at 10 a.m., the tournament's goal is to raise over $200,000 with funds being placed in an endowment for the men's and women's golf program. The collegiate tournament then begins with 36 holes on Monday (Feb. 16) and concludes with the final round on Tuesday (Feb. 17).

For the fifth-consecutive season, the Titan men will play from the championship tees on the Par 72 Eisenhower ("Ike") course that measures 7,211 yards. Along with the Titans, the balance of the men's teams include Boise State, British Columbia, California Baptist, CSU Bakersfield, Grand Canyon, Sacramento State, Seattle, St. Bonaventure and Big West foe UC Santa Barbara.

In the 2014 event, the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team claimed its first ever Folino Invitational Championship on Feb. 17-18 at the Industry Hills Golf Course in City of Industry, Calif. Holding a 14-stroke lead over UC Irvine heading into the final day, the Titans shot a final round 291 (+3), concluding three rounds of play at 1-under par 863 to capture the title.

The tournament victory gave the Titans its third overall event championship among four during the season, and first ever crown while competing in its host tournament. Fullerton became the third different champion in tournament history amongst Long Beach State and Cal Poly. The overall score of 863 (-1) was also the best team score on record at the Folino, surpassing Cal Poly's 867 (+3) by four-strokes during the 2011 event. All five CSF team participants of Mark Anguiano, Corey Gard, and returners Josh Park, Kyle De Silva and Ryan Tetrault finished within the top-20 on the individual leaderboard.

Anguiano finished in first ahead of Sacramento State's Owen Tyler and fellow Titan Tetrault. Anguiano's total score of 204 (-12) shattered the lowest-ever individual tournament score of 212 (-1), previously held by Geoff Gonzalez of Cal Poly in the 2011 competition.

Fullerton's men's team will open its spring season at the Arizona Intercollegiate beginning on Monday in Tucson, Ariz., hosted by the University of Arizona.
