FULLERTON, Calif.- The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team completed play at the Saint Mary's Invitational in 15th place at the Bayonet Golf Club in Seaside, Calif., on Tuesday.


The Titans tallied a final score of 915 (+51) after firing a final round 12-over-par 300 on Tuesday afternoon. San Diego walked away with the victory with a score of 864 (E), wrapping up the tournament as the only team to finish with an overall score even-par or better edging out the nearest competitor by just a single stroke.


The Torreros shot a final round of 1-over-par 289 to walk away with the title. San Diego was followed by host Saint Mary's (865, +1), San Francisco (871, +7), Fresno State (877, +13) and Santa Clara (878, +14) to round out the top-five. San Diego's Mathias Dahl used an even-par 72 third round to garner the individual title at 7-under-par 209.


The tournament, alternating rounds between the Black Horse and Bayonet Golf Courses, included six teams currently ranked in the top-100 by Golfstat.com. UC Davis entered the tournament at No. 64, while Cal State Fullerton is No. 66, tournament champion San Diego is No. 71, host Saint Mary's is No. 84, San Francisco is No. 87 and Santa Clara is No. 96.

With a total score of 223 (+7), Cal State Fullerton's Kyle De Silva paced the Titans for a tie in 30th place. In his first action of his sophomore campaign, De Silva carded a final round 76 (+4).


Fullerton's Ryan Tetrault carded a third round 73 (+1), finishing tied for 51st place with an overall score of 12-over-par 228. The senior from Villa Park, Calif., used his final round on the links to record four birdies over the final 18-holes including the team's only eagle on the 10th-hole.


Fellow CSF senior Josh Park chipped in a final score of 230 (+14) after a third round 2-over-par 74. Park concluded the two-day tournament in a tie for 62nd place.


Newcomer Nico Mendoza finished the tournament with an overall score of 239 (+23), while shooting a third round 8-over-par 80. The Yorba Linda, Calif., native fell into a tie for 89th.


Marcus Mercado
made his Titans debut on the links, completing the five-man rotation in team competition, chalking up an overall score of 26-over-par 242, after a third round 77 (+5). The Orange Coast College transfer wrapped up his first event of 2014-15 tied in 89th place.


The Titans will be back in action on Sept. 29-30 as they travel to Colorado to compete in the Mark Simpson Invitational in Erie, Colo., at the Colorado National Golf Club.
