Pacific Coast Amateur Championship Results 
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Former Cal State Fullerton men's golfer Mark Anguiano continued his solid summer on the links with a fourth-place finish at the 48th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship (PCA) at the Pine Canyon Club in Flagstaff, Ariz., on Friday afternoon.
After claiming the Sahalee Players Championship (SPC) earlier this month held at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., Anguiano was once again in the title hunt heading into final round of the PCA, in second place and five-strokes behind eventual champion Corey Pereira. The former Titan concluded the event carding a final round of 71 (+1) to land at 10-under-par 270 (65-66-68-71), concluding the tournament tied for fourth.
The Whittier, Calif., native who plans on turning professional after the upcoming Western Amateur, opened up the tournament with a first round of 65 (-5) including a three-under-par 32 front nine. Anguiano followed that up by a two-under-par 33 back nine that featured a three-hole stretch of birdies on holes 14, 15 and 16 while landing alone in second place after both the first and second rounds.
After posting only three total bogeys following the opening two rounds, Anguiano lost a bit of momentum after carding six bogeys over the final two rounds to slip two slots in the final standings. Overall, he posted an impressive 19 birdies over the tournament, five of which were sunk in his first round.
In total, 87 top-ranked world amateurs competed in the 72-hole, four-day stroke play competition. Anguiano entered the event ranked No. 27 in the world according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and No. 59 in the Scratch Players World Amateur Ranking (SP).
Anguiano concluded his illustrious career at Fullerton being named on the 2014 Division I PING All-West Team after leading his team to the Sugar Grove Regionals, the first NCAA postseason appearance since the program was reinstated in 2009-10. The accolades over his impressive senior season included an individual championship at the Fullerton-hosted Folino Invitational, being named the Big West Player of the Year while also leading the Titans to their second consecutive conference title.
Joining Anguiano near the top of the leaderboard was former Aggie and UC Davis graduate Matt Hansen, who posted a final round of 66 (-4). His four-day score of 69-69-65-66-(269) landed him in a tie for second place to conclude the championship. Similar to Anguiano's aspirations, Hansen plans on turning professional later this year.
Past champions of the Pacific Coast Amateur who have gone on to successful professional careers include PGA Tour winners Billy Mayfair (1987, 1988), Jason Gore (1997) and Ben Crane (1998).
