Anguiano Named on PING All-West Team

2014 Division I PING All-Region Teams

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton's Mark Anguiano has been named on the 2014 Division I PING All-West Team, as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

A total of 157 players across six regions were recognized by the GCAA - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2014.

Leading the Titans to their first NCAA postseason appearance since the golf program was reinstated during the 2009-10 season, the senior fired a team best third round 6-over-par 78 to conclude the Sugar Grove Regionals in 34th place after carding a total score 14-over-par 230. The Whittier, Calif., native paced the team with 10 birdies over the 54-hole regional while also shooting a team-best 71 (-1) in the second round to pace the No. 10 seeded Titans to an 11th place finish in Sugar Grove, Ill.

Anguiano also became the first Titan to garner the Big West Player of the Year accolade, pacing the conference with a 69.72 stroke average to end the regular season. Over the course of the 2013-14 season, he tallied nine top-five finishes, including two individual medalist honors. He also tied for second place at the conference championship, leading Fullerton to its second consecutive team title.

Also selected on the All-Big West First Team, Anguiano became the first Titan to claim an individual championship at the Folino Invitational, hosted by Fullerton on Feb. 17-18. He has been selected to the conference first team for three consecutive seasons after being selected in 2012 and 2013.

Highlighting the conference all season, he was also the only golfer to claim the Big West Golfer of the Month honor multiple times, recognized on three occasions for the months of September, February and March

Placing himself among some of the program's best competitors, Anguiano concludes his illustrious career on top of the all-time record books for most career rounds (129), most single-season top-10 finishes (9), career top-10 finishes (20) and lowest stroke average in a season (70.31, 2013-14). He tallied a team-high 25 rounds at par or better, all of which are listed below.

Big West Championship individual medalist Matt Hansen of UC Davis was the only other conference golfer to be recognized on the PING All-West Team.
