FULLERTON, Calif.- The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team finished its first day of competition in third place in the Desert Shootout at the Palm Valley Country Club in Goodyear, Ariz., on Thursday.

The Titans shot 281 to finish 7-under-par after the first round of play. Heading into the final 36 holes, Fullerton is currently two strokes behind the leader.

After day one, the Titans are trailing overall leader Southern Utah (-9, 279) and Idaho (-8, 280) while followed by Long Beach State (-6, 282) and Nebraska (-6, 282) to round out the top-five.

With a total score of 69 (-3) through the first round, Cal State Fullerton's senior Mark Anguiano and junior Ryan Tetrault lead the individual leaderboard for the Titans, respectively.

Freshman Kyle De Silva concluded the first round shooting a 1-under-par 71, just two strokes behind teammates Anguiano and Tetrault.

Seniors Corey Gard followed with a mark of 72 (E), while Josh Park finished the day with a 9-over-par 81.

Fellow senior Scott Rubzin competed as an individual, firing a first round even-par 72 to conclude the day.

The next 18 holes of the Desert Shootout will continue tomorrow at the Palm Valley Country Club, a par 72, at 8 a.m.
