Cal State Fullerton Finishes Fifth at­­ Jones Invitational

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's golf team completed play at the Jones Invitational at the Saticoy Golf Club in Somis, Calif. on Tuesday. After finishing in fourth place after the first two-rounds, the Titans dropped one slot to finish fifth in the tournament.

The Titans shot 600 (+24) over the first day of play, including a 300 (+12) second round and a score of 306 (+18) on Tuesday afternoon in the third round to finish 906 (+42). Currently ranked 50th in the country by Golfstat.com, San Diego State walked away with the victory after finishing the tournament with a score of 881 (+17). The Aztecs shot a 292 (+4) final round on Tuesday. San Diego State was followed by Southern California (882, +18), San Diego (888, +24), and Brigham Young (900, +36) to round out the top four. 
 
The tournament, hosted by the Pepperdine, was host to four teams currently ranked in the top-50 by Golfstat.com including No. 23 USC, No. 30 Brigham Young, No. 48 Cal State Fullerton and No. 50 San Diego State.
 
Junior Ryan Tetrault (222, +6) ended the tournament tied for sixth after recording a score of 72 (E) on his final round on Tuesday.

Senior Mark Anguiano dropped three slots from day one in shooting a final round 75 (+3) to finish in 26th with a 11-over-par 227. Fellow senior Corey Gard finished tied for 27th with an overall score of 228 (+12) to lead the Titans. Anguiano shot a team best of 71 (E) in the first round.

Junior Josh Park shot 82 (+10) on Tuesday and ended the tournament 16-over par to tie for 33rd in the standings.

Fullerton freshman Kyle De Silva finished 25-over par with an overall score of 241 for the Titans.

The Titans will be back in action on Mar. 3-4 as they compete in the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif., at the Long Beach Country Club.
