FULLERTON, Calif.--Coming off the first ever title at the Folino Invitational in City of Industry, Calif., the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team returns to Southern California and heads to the Jones Invitational as one of 12 teams competing in the two-day tournament on Feb. 24-25 in Somis, Calif.
THE COURSE: The two-day event will be contested at the Saticoy Country Club, playing at 6,985 yards from the tournament tees and par 72 for the 54-hole event. Play begins in the morning (7:45 a.m. shotgun start) for the first and second rounds on Monday, while concluding on Tuesday (8 a.m start) with the final round.
THE FIELD: Competing alongside the Titans will be squads from Pepperdine, Brigham Young, Cal State Northridge, Georgia State, Lipscomb, San Diego, San Diego State, San Jose State, UC Irvine, USC and Washington State.

IN THE RANKINGS: Cal State Fullerton is ranked No. 48 in the nation according to the Golfstat.com NCAA team rankings, facing a field that features two teams ranked higher than the Titans: USC is No. 23, Brigham Young is No. 30, San Diego State is No. 50, Georgia State is No. 53,Washington State is No. 74, San Diego is No. 81, UC Irvine is No. 113, host Pepperdine is No. 122, San Jose State is No. 138, Cal State Northridge is No. 178 and Lipscomb is No. 194.
According to the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings, Fullerton is one of seven top-100 ranked teams in the competition rated at No. 58; The rest of the field: USC is No. 24, Brigham Young is No. 37, San Diego State is No. 47, Georgia State is No. 57, Washington State is No. 71, San Diego is No. 73, UC Irvine is No. 113, host Pepperdine is No. 129, San Jose State is No. 132, Cal State Northridge is No. 188 and Lipscomb is No. 200.
JONES INVITATIONAL: This week will mark the first ever participation for the Titans in the Jones Invitational in Southern California hosted by Pepperdine. Most recently titled as the Club Glove Intercollegiate in 2007, Pepperdine has been the tournament champion in three out of the past five years of the tournament. This is the 10th time Pepperdine has hosted a tournament at Saticoy Country Club, but the first since fall 2007. Pepperdine was the overall champion that year posting a total score of (300-306-299--905, +41).

A LOOK BACK: Fullerton junior Mark Anguiano finished in first place with an overall score of 204 (-12) to lead the Titans to a first place finish at the Folino Invitational at the Industry Hills Golf Course in City of Industry, Calif. on Feb. 17-18, 2014. The Titans shot a tournament best (863, -1), finishing 16-strokes better than Sacramento State who shot an overall score of (879, +15) while shooting an identical final round to the Titans, (291, +3). UC Irvine followed with a final round score of 300 (+12) to finish with an overall score of (886, +22). British Columbia finished the tournament shooting a 40-over-par 904 to finish in fourth place, while Grand Canyon shot a final round score of 299 (+11) to finish in the invitation 56-over par 920 to round out the top five.
Anguiano shot a team and tournament record first round of 66 (-6). Junior Ryan Tetrault concluded the tournament tied for second place with a 2-under-par 214. Senior Corey Gard was one of three Titans to finish the tournament in the top-10. Gard shot an overall score of 223 (+7) to finish tied for ninth place. Freshman Kyle De Silva finished tied for 14th place following an overall score of 11-over-par 227. Senior Josh Park finished tied for 16th place marking a final score of 228 (+12).
Senior Scott Rubzin, sophomore Mark Jensma, and freshman Matt Murphy all competed as individuals in the event. Rubzin fired a total score of 231 to stand at 15-over-par to finish tied for 27th place. Jensma finished tied for 31st with an overall mark of 232 (+16), while Murphy rounded out the Titans for the tournament finishing tied for 36th in the standings with an overall score of 235 (+19).
RECORD PERFORMANCES: The Folino Invitational victory gives the Titans its third overall event championship of the season and first ever crown while competing in its host tournament. Fullerton becomes the third different champion in tournament history amongst Long Beach State and Cal Poly. The overall score of 863 (-1) is also the best team score on record at the Folino, surpassing Cal Poly's 867 (+3) by four-strokes during the 2011 event. Anguiano's total score of 204 (-12) shattered the lowest-ever individual tournament score of 212 (-1), previously held by Geoff Gonzalez of Cal Poly in the 2011 competition.
